Sources and Online DefinitionsGlossary of Internet & Web Jargon UC Berkeley Library
Web-o-pedia"A collaborative Web site comprises the perpetual collective work of many authors. Similar to a blog in structure and logic, a wiki allows anyone to edit, delete or modify content that has been placed on the Web site using a browser interface, including the work of previous authors. In contrast, a blog, typically authored by an individual, does not allow visitors to change the original posted material, only add comments to the original content.Quote the useful part of their definition here."
wiki.org
"Wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser. Wiki supports hyperlinks and has a simple text syntax for creating new pages and crosslinks between internal pages on the fly.
Wiki is unusual among group communication mechanisms in that it allows the organization of contributions to be edited in addition to the content itself."
Origination of the word "wiki":Wiki wiki means "quick" in Hawaiian. The first wiki was created by Ward Cunningham in 1995.
